Cleveland Clinic announced today a $302 million expansion plan for Cleveland Clinic Florida that will include capital improvements to its campus in Weston, and a new clinic and ambulatory surgery center in Coral Springs, Fla.

In Weston, the expansion will include the addition of three operating suites and additional inpatient hospital beds, as well as expansion of the Emergency Department and imaging and laboratory facilities. General renovations and additional parking are also part of on-campus enhancements that will take place over the next three years.

“As a destination for critical care, Cleveland Clinic Florida provides an advanced level of care for the highest acuity patients including individuals facing cancer, cardiac and neurological conditions, and those in need of organ transplant services, among others,” said Wael Barsoum, MD, President of Cleveland Clinic Florida “These capital improvements support our ability to serve the growing number of patients who seek highly specialized services.”

Cleveland Clinic Florida is also expanding in Coral Springs and will build a new 65,000 square foot facility that will house a clinic with up to 40 exam rooms and an ambulatory surgery center with several operating suites. The new facility will also have procedure rooms while serving as a family health center for neighboring communities.

“I am very proud of the longstanding commitment and dedication that our Cleveland Clinic Florida caregivers have provided for our patients and to the residents of South Florida. This expansion will allow us to better meet the increasing demand for specialized services, more convenient access, and expanded inpatient capacity for the region,” says Toby Cosgrove, MD, President & CEO of Cleveland Clinic.

“We remain committed to meeting the needs of the community,” Dr. Barsoum added. “The success of our medical and surgical programs has given us the opportunity to lay the foundation for continued growth.”

With construction of the Coral Springs facility, Cleveland Clinic Florida will have seven locations across Broward and Palm Beach counties in addition to its main campus in Weston.
